Meet Our Committee

All our committee members are involved with Deaf children, either as a parent, carer, or other family member. We are also affiliated to the National Deaf Children’s Society who have professionals who can help with your questions and queries.

Hi, I’m Rosie and I joined the committee in 2023. I live in Portsmouth with my husband, daughter and several animals. Due to complications at birth, my daughter was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss and currently wears bilateral cochlear implants. Harj Kaur, Treasurer

Hi I’m Harj, I live in Southampton and have two boys aged 3 and 8. Our youngest son was born profoundly deaf, which was a shock as there is no history of deafness in our families, he has had implants since he was 1. We attend the Elizabeth Foundation and he also goes to a mainstream nursery. I am a child protection solicitor and work for Brighton and Hove City Council. I joined the SHCDS committee in 2023 and am the treasurer. I joined the committee as I felt it was important to have local social events for families to enjoy and have somewhere families in the same situation as us can meet.
